my home

hello home

For the last lesson in the up and running class by Jessica Sprague we had to make a layout about our home. I changed this slightly by using photos of our little seaside town which Jenny had taken.

messing about

JSprague-UR-Lesson3

I’ve spent the afternoon doing another Jessica Sprague class, I’d forgotten how good they are, wish I could afford some more!

I’ve also been finishing off a project I started yesterday and sorting out some of my stash.

Class 2

YOU

The second class from Jessica Sprague involved using a template, adding an embellishment, journalling, a shape (the heart) and a brush. Although I know all of this it was a great way of revising.

We have been to Becca's little leaving concert today at the local church. They sang some songs, most of which I knew from Sunday School and some of the children talked about their friends, why they liked school and what they wanted to be when they grew up, it was lovely.

assignment 1

you

The next part of Jessica Sprague's class was to use this quick page, turn a photo to black and white and add journalling to the strips.

I've chosen a photo of Ian when we were on Lock Ness and the journalling is heartfelt at the moment.

back to basics

then-and-now-web

It's always a good idea to go over techniques learnt especially where digi scrapping is involved, there is so much to learn. I've therefore signed  up for Jessica Spragues Up and Running class again, as I've done it before it was really cheap and you get a new kit with it.

This is the first class, using a template and adding a title and text.

Rock Star

star

The last lesson from the up and running class and yet again there was so much to remember. I'm so glad I've redone these classes as I had certainly forgotten a lot, I will probably be doing them again in a few months!

For this lesson we had to create a grid of patterned paper, use brushes for the flourishes and add a title and journalling plus a little embellishment.

Ian is off to a bowls match soon and I have the afternoon to myself so I might get out some stash and do some messy scrapping!

digi

again

I felt like a change today so thought I would have another go at a Jessica Sprague class. For this class we had to enlarge a photo and then crop three photos. We made a semi-transparent journalling block, a title and then cut a photo matt from some green paper. We finished with a grungy overlay.

lazy day

january

The next bonus assignment was to use the white paper provided , a stamp, crop some photos and then use anything you like. I used some snowy photos taken in January.

This was a very quick page as not feeling too good today, so I think I will curl up with this book

9781408801109_145 as after a slow start I have suddenly found it very interesting.

messy

messy

Week two of the Up and Running class and there was lots to learn. Cropping photos, using brushes, journalling and the marquee tool. I'd also forgotten how cool the custom shape tool is, there are so many to choose from. I love the neatness of the layout, everything is aligned so well, I'm not bragging by the way it's all down to Jessica's instructions.

Our DGD

BeautifulYouQuick copy

A nice easy bonus assignment for the next part of the class. We were given the template and then had to change a photo to black and white, add it to the template and do some journalling. I'm glad I did this as I'd forgotten all about changing to black and white and Jessica has a nice little tutorial to help.

It's sunny but very windy and cold. We played bowls this morning and then went for a walk by the sea but it was far too cold to stay out for long.

Revising

week1layout-web

One of my resolutions for this year was to go back over digi classes I've done as I know I've forgotten a lot. I've started with the Up and Running class by Jessica Sprague which you can find here up and running.

This first lesson took you through the basics of PSE, showing you what it can do and how to set it out for digi scrapping. We then had to crop a photo, place a grungy frame over it and then add a title and journalling. She shows you so much in these classes, picking out colours on your layout for the journalling, taking an element from patterned paper to add to your page and using the opacity to make things look more interesting.

twins!

I did this layout as the last segment in the Up and running class I've been doing. We had to cut different papers to put in grid, change a photo, stamp and do journalling, quite a lot to take in.

This morning after cleaning more windows, we met Jenny and co at Botany bay and spent a nice couple of hours there until it got too hot. Alex and Becca spent most of the time in the water but we couldn't get jamie to go in!

getting there

a digi page from the Jessica Sprague up and running class.

have been feeling a bit fed up as I feel I never quite get there. I try my hand at so many things but usually end up rushing things and hardly ever feel happy with what I've done. Well today I thought I've got to stop being like that and take things slowly.

I started with spending time trying to do something I've always wanted to do, a blog header. It took quite a while but with a little input from Peter and Ian I finally came up with my first one and I'm quite pleased with it.

It's been very hot here again and Ian and I went to the bandstand for a while but I couldn't stay too long. We then collected Jamie from the beach and brought him back to watch Spurs, from the sound of it things aren't going too badly though from the shouts of "rubbish" I take it they gave away a penalty!!

Templates

I wanted to learn how to use digi templates so this class by Jessica Sprague was perfect.
The first template was about Becca's birthday, I used a free kit I had.

This one was of a trip to the beach a few years ago.

We had a nice morning on the beach and had the annual cricket match, will sort out photos later. it's baking hot here and I feel like collapsing!!

this place

A bit late tonight but have finally done my lesson 3! This involved lots of new techniques and ways of resizing photos. We also had to make a journalling block and mat for our small photos. Really enjoyed this, it's so much easier when you just have to follow instructions!

another attempt

tried to do another layout from scratch before going on to the next class. It took me ages but I think it is a bit better than the other one!
I used a free kit I downloaded the other day.

Hard work!

At the end of our second lesson we had to do our own digi layout from scratch using several photos. I find it much harder trying to design something myself but had a go. Think I need a lot more practice somehow and a creative brain!!
All the elements on the page were either from the course or part of a free kit I downloaded.

lesson 2

Here is my next page, it's taken me quite a while to do but hopefully I have learnt a lot of new techniques!

Bonus assignment

We had to do this layout as a bonus assignment to make sure we remembered everything. I found the part about saving it in different sizes very interesting as it should make it easier for me to upload to my blog.

Lesson 1

I've just started an Up and Running class over on Jessica Sprague's site. Jenny is way ahead of me as I had to wait till mum went home.
This is the first layout and I have to say I am very impressed with the class, there is lots to learn and I can't wait to do more!

We had a lovely few days with mum despite her leaving her stick and medication behind, she seemed to manage well without either of them.
We had two walks by the sea, meeting Jenny and co for a pot of tea nad a scone on one of the days, they also came round twice to see her.
Yesterday we had a browse at the shops which mum enjoyed although I tried to steer her away from skirts and tops! She bought a few goodies to eat over the weekend and Ian was going to make sure she had something out for her dinner today. He and Peter took her back last night and stayed the night as they are going to the golf today.
Jamie stayed last night to watch the football and is now watching Smallville.
I'm itching to get on with my class but had better get dressed first!
