On Thursday Ian and I stepped back in time to see some favourite old groups. As we walked to our seats the walls were full of pictures of old acts dating back to the early 1900’s, acts ranging from Arthur Askey to The Beatles and for the younger generation, JLS.
This made me think back to the first show I ever saw back in the sixties. We were on holiday in the Isle of Man, staying with my aunt and uncle

this very old, battered photo is all I have to show, I’m the little one in the front.
As a treat we went to Douglas to see Freddie and the Dreamers, Susan Maughan and The Batchelors. How grown up I felt watching these acts and getting their autographs, it was the highlight of a lovely holiday.
Fast forward 40yrs, we were just fulfilling a life long ambition to live near the sea. As we drove along the seafront feeling like we were on a permanent holiday we passed the theatre and who do you think was performing there? Yes, topping the bill was Susan Maughan and Freddie and the Dreamers. For a while I was that little girl again on holiday with my mum and dad,
miss you dad x
