slowly returning

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Ian and I, our darling son gave us the flu and it’s not been much fun.

Dragging myself out of bed occasionally I managed to get 70 wedding invites done as a favour but they were not easy, everything that could go wrong did, I think I was just not well enough to do it. Lets hope I don’t give the flu to all the guests!

I’m hoping to catch up on everyone’s blogs soon.

Prize

SDC16450

Recently I found Kirsten’s blog here which has lots of yummy recipes which I’ve been trying out. Her friend Sue has just started a new business called Somerset Suds, making beautiful soaps and I was lucky enough to win some through commenting on Kirsten’s blog. They arrived at the weekend and aren’t they cute!

Thank you so much Kirsten for sending them to me.

tea and scone

DSCF1551-001

Abi over on Creating Paper Dreams is inviting people to stop by for a chat and a cuppa here and as it’s such a lovely day I thought you would like to take a stroll down to the sea and have a pot of tea with me. If you  feel like indulging then you might also want to try a scone and jam. I would of course tell you that this is a rare treat for me as I am counting the calories in the hope of losing some weight before we go away for our anniversary.

As we chatted I would ask how things are with you and what you had planned for the year ahead. I would tell you that after a few worrying weeks I am full of plans for walks, gardening, crafting, cooking and time with the family.

As we listened to the waves gently lapping against the shore I would tell you how I have my little granddaughter coming for the weekend and I hope so much the weather will stay nice enough for us to venture on to the beach.

All too soon it will be time to go and I will tell you I must get back home and start baking, I have a chocolate cake to make.

It has been lovely spending time with you, we must do it again soon.

nanny’s cup and saucer

It’s time for Storytelling Sunday again over on Sian's blog. The prompt was for an Irish themed precious and the nearest to Ireland I could get was Burnley in Lancashire.

I never really knew my paternal grandparents very well, Grandad died as I was being born and Nanny was only a few years after. My two older sisters would go up to Burnley to visit but I was too young and never saw their home.
Grandad was quite a character and used to be in a circus. They had three children, my aunt who acted on the stage, my uncle who sang and Dad who played the piano beautifully. The photo is the only one I have of me with Nanny H and the little cup and saucer belonged to her.

my month in photos

feb 2013

February was an odd month spent waiting and worrying. We had long, cold walks and spent time doing a jigsaw and crafting. To be honest I’m glad it’s over.
