Defining home

My first prompt from Shimelle included a questionaire -
What do you consider your hometown? How long did you live there? -

My hometown was ********** and I lived there for 18yrs.

How would you describe your hometown? -

Built up, planes and traffic noise, mixture of races, not very nice really!

How many places have you lived in your life? -

Houses - 6 Areas - 4

What town feels like home to you now -

Where I am now, I love it!!

How long have you lived in your current home - 4yrs

Does it feel temporary, quite permanent or somewhere in between?

Very permanent

How would you describe your current home?

a detached bungelow near the sea

Is there anywhere you would like to live but haven't?

I love Norfolk or somewhere like the Isle of Man

If you could change one room in your house what would you change?

The spare room, I would make it bigger and change it into a craft room!

Share one happy memory of your current home.

Moving in and looking down the drive to see Jenny, Ed and the children walking up it!

Share a happy memory from anywhere else you have lived.

Having lived by a busy duel carriageway, I can remember waking up the first morning in my new house and listening to the birds and no traffic, bliss!

Ian and I played bowls this morning and he won again! it was good fun though and I am glad I made the effort to go. We have ordered one of those water pressure machine things for the weekend as we want to clean the patio and paths etc, something we have been trying to do since we moved here! This year we will get on top of the garden, I have just doomed everyone to a bad summer now!!!

March week 4 challenge

I really enjoyed doing this layout of Ian with his mum (Maureen is in the background too). I used my Mother's Day kit again from Sarah's Cards which is so pretty. I also used a new bazzill basics stitch template to sew the flourish, see, I don't just buy things, I actually use them!!
The challenge was to use ovals, a B&W photo, flowers on paper, pastels and bling. It is all there, somewhere!
Everyone seems a bit under the weather at the moment so I am going to take it easy for the rest of the day. I have looked at my last Design Collective classes and have some ideas for shimelles class, I also have to complete another CJ on my favourite quote or poem, that needs a bit more thought!

Easter Weekend - the start of the gardening year!

Spring is here at last, the daffs are out and so is the snow!! Scenes from my back door this Easter Sunday!

this is the new
shimelle class I am starting tomorrow, looks like fun!

Everyone has gone and it is very quiet now. The goulash I did from Delia's new book was very easy and tasted good, definitely will do again. I did mashed potatoes, rice and roasted veg to go with it. Pudding was an orange flan made by Jenny, a rich chocolate cake made by Zen and I did the good old lemon flan!
Zen organised an easter egg hunt for the children which they enjoyed, it would have been outside if the weather had been better!
I'm going to have a rest as I am shattered now!

In the evenong we had a lovely meal at a chinese buffet, ate too much!!
Today, Jenny, Ed and the children are coming round for lunch so I am off now to prepare for that!!

My youngest!!

It's this little boys birthday today, I cant believe my youngest is 24yrs!!
Happy birthday Andrew, I hope you have had a good weekend.
The children have just been around to eat the birthday cake but I have managed to save some for Peter who is coming tomorrow for Easter. Jamie has stayed to watch the spurs game and has already had more cake.
Jenny helped me sort out my ribbon collection as she was offended by the mess it was in, everything is nice and tidy, but for how long!!

Team sketch challenge

We have started a sketch challenge on our team on UKS, we will be taking it in turn to post a sketch and then we have 2wks to do it. The first sketch was provided by Libby and was a very nice one to do. I used some papers etc from a sarahs cards kit I got for Mother's Day, they were lovely to use. The photos are gorgeous too, thanks Jenny!
Ian and I played bowls this morning and had a very close match, it was down to the last end and Ian just beat me!
We walked to the library this afternoon as I finally decided to give up on the last book I was reading, hopefully I have chosen something better now.

Lazy Saturday!

Made this layout for the UKS weekly challenge.
We had to use a sketch, something green and to do with nature and something recycled or old stash. Have been wanting to use these BG papers and the conker photos s this was the ideal opportunity.
Apart from crafting, I have played a lot on EQ2 with my boys today. Yesterday we went out for a nice meal at a harvester and saw Jenny and co there too.

All our yesterdays

Have finally finished this "all our yesterdays" cross stitch kit, I started it after our family trip to London last April! Now I need to go out and buy a frame for it and put it with the four others I have done. I have a half finished large one to do next.
We took mum back yesterday after a very nice visit, mum seemed much more her old self. Today though, she has been phoning up in a panic again, still she did remember to let me know about a hospital appointment which is a good sign.
Ian phoned up the council about mum moving down here but they couldn't offer us much hope, I suppose they have to look after their own old people first. We will continue to look for something just incase things get worse, it would be so better having her near.
Jenny and I went to the shops this morning and both got a couple of things in the sales. I'm off to babysit later so will make the most of my free time now!

Mother's Day

Mum and I have had a very nice Mother's Day, thank you all for my cards and presents. Jenny and Andrew got me a sarahs cards kit, David got me American Gothic DVD and Peter got me the latest game for Everquest 2 which I have been wanting badly, so I have been well and truely spoilt! My cards were all lovely too as you can see.
Mum liked her maze book and chocolates from me and we have already watched a foyles war, which Sue got her!
Jenny, Ed and the children came round this morning and after lunch we went for a coffee by the sea as the weather was good.
Hope you all had a good day too!
