looking through my albums

SDC14583

I’ve been trying to identify some gaps in my 2011 album and decided I really needed to do my Christmas photos. Using Shimelle’s December class for 4x6 photo love, I was able to get them all scrapped.

SDC14585

and with ideas from her latest class I used coordinating papers on the facing page to scrap my 2 favourite photos of Christmas, the long awaited Pointless game!

needed to scrap!

SDC14580

After days of trying to organise my layouts and albums I decided to relax and do a bit of scrapping. Taking inspiration from a layout by Shimelle where she scraps with portrait and landscape photos, I made this layout of my grandson off on a school holiday. Another little story to put in my 2012 album.

finally getting organised!

I’ve rearranged all my albums, started sorting through lots of old photos, ordered and received all this years prints and looked at some layouts to see what else I need to do, all prompts from Shimelle’s latest class. Today I’m looking forward to working on my 2012 album Smile

10things on the tenth

This month I thought I would share some of my favourite classes with you Smile

1. may

Back in 2008, Shimelle did a free class over on UKS called scrap your day on the 25th. I loved this idea and enjoy looking back over my album.

2.star_thumb[1]

I do enjoy digi scrapping and love all Jessica Sprague classes. This layout was from her Up and running class.

3.JS_Evidence_10-TogetherPartwedding-together

and this double layout from her Beautiful Evidence class.

For the last few years I’ve been doing Shimelle’s Learn Something New class in September, it’s fun looking back to a certain date and seeing what was going on!

5.aspiration_1

Another class I enjoyed was Shimelle’s My Freedom one, her prompts really make you think.

6.SDC13165_thumb[2]

Last year Shimelle ran a free class over on 2peas called 4x6 photo love, it’s helped me scrap several photos of one event and I’m sure I will be revisiting the class.

7.christmas_thumb[1] awesome_thumb[1]

I completed several digi classes over on Hummie’s World which helped me understand PSE a bit more.

8.SDC14337_thumb[1]

The Hitch hikers Guide class over on 2peas by Shimelle is another class I am still enjoying.

9.SDC14091_thumb[1]

and now for something completely different is a free class going on all year over on UKS and yes, you guessed it, it’s another Shimelle one!

10. shake_party_thumb[1]

If you want a digi class packed with tips but less than 30mins long then I can recommend Jessica Sprague’s Photoshop Friday classes.

I’ve enjoyed looking back over old classes I’ve taken, I hope you have too. To see more 10things on the tenth posts go to Shimelle’s blog here

The Singing Salesman

It’s that time again, Sian is hosting her Storytelling Sunday. I’ve thought of sad stories and happy ones and then I remembered this

You all know the feeling, we had a double glazing salesman coming round that evening and I was not looking forward to it at all.

7pm arrived and there was a knock on the door, trying to be polite I opened it and let him in with a smile, hopefully it wouldn’t take too long and I could get back to enjoying the evening.

Well, the windows were measured and we were sitting down with a cup of tea discussing the price, things were looking up, he would be going soon.

Somehow, I don’t know why, the conversation turned to music. “I do a lot of singing” he said and encouraged by our lukewarm response he rushed out to his car to get a demo tape.

Slightly bewildered we put the tape into our stereo and pressed play, perhaps he thought we were in the music business and this was the break he needed, we obviously looked the part!

It had to be of course, My Way began to play, oh dear perhaps not so trendy looking after all.

“What do you think?” he said seriously “ if you listen carefully to the phrasing, I’m sure I sing it better than Sinatra!!!”

Oh what it is to have such self confidence.

This story is part of Sian’s Storytelling Sunday, to read more fantastic tales go to here

SDC14569

With Shimelle’s new class in mind, I thought I would sort out my albums, quite a big task.

SDC14570

I now have an album for each year and a stack of layouts to date and add journalling to.

I do feel pleased though.

my month in photos

april
A visit to the zoo, collecting eggs and baking bread have been some of the few things we’ve done this month.
The beach huts are beginning to appear and we love looking at the artwork on some of them.
We also had a mad few days when people queued for hours to buy petrol, convinced there would be a shortage, a local pub made me smile with their sign!
To see more of other people's photos pop over to Rebecca’s blog here

cover to cover, a new class

3260

At Christmas I was fortunate enough to win some free class passes to a shimelle class. Now I’ve always been a fan of journalling and telling our story on my layouts, a pretty page is just not enough somehow. Shimelle has taken that a step further in her new class http://www.shimelle.com/paper/1466/cover-to-cover-a-new-online-scrapbooking-class/. I’m so excited about this class, can’t wait to get started and would love to see some familiar faces over in the forum.

Do let me know if you are taking part Smile
