I wanted to record the madness of earlier this year and the reported petrol shortage, for my 2012 album. On one of our walks we kept passing this pub sign, it reads
“beer shortage soon, please panic buy!”
It made us smile.

A great afternoon!
I’ve not been feeling too good for a few days and everything is an effort. Today I did manage to finish this
I bought this kit in a sale at Sarah’s Cards and followed a class by Shimelle. I’ve used lots of photos of the grandchildren at sports day last year before going off to take more this afternoon!!
I really enjoyed making this digi page, we had to drop a photo into the space provided, upload and stamp a brush and write the journalling. Although I have done all this before it is always great to be reminded of the many cool things you can do in PSE.
I’ve finally scrapped following a class by Shimelle over on UKS.
Last year I noticed several people taking part in a scavenger photo challenge and as it looked great fun I’ve decided to participate this year. If you fancy joining in then check out this post over on Rinda’s blog.
It seems like ages since I’ve scrapped and posted on my blog regularly but life has been very busy recently. I’ve also not been able to comment on blogs very much so I do apologise for that.
We have been on holiday which I hope to blog about later and had visits from family but I’ve still managed to make this
the cardigan I mean although I did make the handsome dad too!
I’ve also been busy cooking, going back to basics and doing bread and pastry by hand – don’t ask me why
an easy brown loaf
and a crusty white one
I now have a strong urge to get out some papers and play providing there are no interruptions!
Jessica Sprague is celebrating her 5th birthday with a free class and I’ve been having a play with a photo.
This is the original
This is it with soft light and screen added
and now with just a hint of sepia
Some fun techniques to use, if you have photoshop then do go over to her shop and give it a try.
It’s Dicken’s Week here and Rebecca was performing with the school choir at the bandstand. We listened to songs from Oliver and the Pirates of Penzance along with old music hall numbers, a real treat.
In the audience were several people dressed for the occasion. I love this time of year when it feels like we have stepped back in time.
How many of you know what it is like to be shy? The feeling of heat spreading over your body, your heart pounding and the sickness in your stomach. All my family seems to suffer from this, we are the ones hiding at the back when forced to take part in anything. At school teachers dealt with this in different ways, one in particular I will always remember with disgust used to make fun of one of my children by making a mouse face and squeaking and then there is the teacher who will be remembered for the right reasons.
Last year I was in the school playground with my granddaughter who wanted to try out for the school choir. Too shy even to ask the teacher for a form, I had to go and get one for her. We all thought she would never do the audition but she managed to sing something very quietly. The teacher said she would have to work on singing out a bit but she could join and since then she has blossomed.
On Thursday as we watched the choir singing out as part of the Jubilee celebrations I watched this teacher sharing his love and enthusiasm for music with the children. He has given so much of his time, evenings and weekends included, to the choir and they all love it. As for my granddaughter, she now has the confidence to take part in school assemblies, speaking on her own and actually enjoying it, all due I’m sure to the many events the choir has taken part in and the efforts of this teacher.
As we take part in a street party tomorrow and watch all the events going on over the next few days it is that little show on the school field I will remember the most and that very special teacher.
This little story is part of Sian’s Storytelling Sunday, do go over to her blog here and read more.
Life is a bit hectic here at the moment but I’ve managed to find time to do my month in photos.
This month has been all about a family visit, ice creams and a Jubilee sing a long –a lovely way to remember May!
