Memorandum Monday
The days are going by far too fast at the moment and each one seems to be full of things that must be done, how I ever managed when I went to work is a mystery to me.
We had a birthday to celebrate which does prove very challenging when birthday boy apparently has all a man could ever wish for, the children and I did manage to come up with a few things though.
A few years ago I gave in and we bought an artificial tree with lights fixed on, just between you and me it has made things a lot easier, no more pine needles and it is done so quickly, I must be getting old. The one thing I have learnt this week though is not to say to oneself "that looked a bit strange, something flashed" and then put your hand down to check the plug, you can get a nasty shock. A wire had come loose and being a sealed plug there was nothing we could do.
I don't like to put pressure on my children, well not much, but I had told one of them how much I look forward to receiving his card as he always finds us a pretty one. He has complained about the stress this has put him under to find the perfect card. This arrived and I love it so you can rest easy this year darling.

I am still a baby at heart though as the thought of no lights on the tree was more than I could accept, cue my hero who rushed to the shops and bought some lights quickly.

Memorandum Monday
This weekend sees a first, my youngest getting all his Christmas presents sorted early, he's usually running around on Christmas Eve phoning me up for ideas. This weekend was full of phone calls and ticking of lists, internet buying and trying not to panic over the amount or worrying that I've bought something twice. As I've been told " Mum, its your one job of the year and we rely on you to coordinate everything". No pressure then!

Hello December
My poor little blog has been a bit neglected of late while mum has been in hospital but I'm happy to say she is on the mend and should be back home on Monday.
Whilst staying at mum's we managed to get out for a few walks and when Ian told me this was one of the first football pitches he played on when he was in his Junior school team I had to take a photo. My hubby was a very good footballer.
Just walking along this canal on a bright Sunday morning really lifted the spirits.
and treating myself to this plant did the same
I have managed to start making some Christmas cards
There has been a little bit of elephant knitting
Some Christmas socks started
and a little treat on a present buying session this morning
Not a bad way to start December and with another year of Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas to look forward to, things are looking up.

Memorandum Monday
Things have been a bit hectic here for the last few weeks. Our grandson had his 18th birthday and his mum, our daughter has just celebrated her birthday. Just before these events my mum broke her hip so there has been a lot of travelling as my sisters and I have gone over to visit her in hospital. Added to that we have just been told she needs a pacemaker fitted which has made her a little anxious. I don't know what the outcome is going to be or how long she will be in hospital so if I'm not around much to comment on your posts you know why.

Memorandum Monday
I really can't ignore the fact that Christmas is on the way anymore so I've decided to enjoy the preparations. I finished this little elephant over the weekend using a pattern by http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/, that's two down and two to go.
Earlier in the week I made some chutney ready for Christmas. Next I need to make the christmas pudding but that will have to wait as we have visitors this week and an 18th birthday to celebrate.
My secret pleasure at the moment, something that I only found over the weekend, is watching knitting podcasts. I really enjoyed this one but it then led on to me looking at this etsy shop among others and trying to resist the temptation to buy lots of wool.
I can see this becoming a serious addiction.

Memorandum Monday
This weekend I've been sorting out some photos, I have far too many. I did come across this old photo of me and my two sisters, I'm the little one in the middle.
The main priority of the weekend was to finish my LSNED pages for this year, I had everything recorded in my diary which made things a lot easier.
all done and in my 2016 album, 30 days of learning something new.

a trip down memory lane
A long time ago when times were hard one film for the camera was all we could afford. These tatty old photos are all we have left to record a lovely holiday we had way back in the last century. How lucky we all are now with our digital cameras. The little boy in the white cap came on holiday with us this year, he's grown a bit!
a few photos from our day out on the Broads
looks like they had a pet heron
it was a beautiful day out.

a few days away
Having deleted this post by mistake I just wanted a quick recap of our lovely holiday. The view from our cottage
a family of snow leopards
the snakes were awake for a change
a scared little toad
a meerkat
the tigers sleeping
posing for the camera
the red pandas being fed
a cute baboon family
