birthday cake!

I did this layout for a challenge set by http://www.3jollyscrappers.com/ over on UKS, Jo who runs the shop is in our team so I wanted to support her. The photos are of Jamie and Alex icing a birthday cake for their mummy and I used the latest Sarah's Cards kit.

We all decided to have a day out in Canterbury yesterday with Peter as Ian had an interview to go to. We were enjoying going round the shops until Jenny had a phonecall from the school saying Jamie had injured himself at break, apparently another boy had kicked him in the shin playing football. Normally Jenny would have been round the school in 5mins but it took us a lot longer to get back. We then spent hours at the hospital with him until he was finally seen and told he had broken his leg, it must have been quite a kick! Jamie now has his leg in plaster from toe to top of thigh and is lording it at home having mummy and daddy running around for him, they will need hospital rest after 8wks of that!

one of those days!!

I started off with good intentions to get housework done and get on track with shimelle's class.I was side-tracked a bit with this layout for todays SLYMI challenge to scrap a square in a square!

I cleaned the windows and made a quiche so I would have lots of time for the class and then disaster! We had to print on fabric for this prompt and I got out some aida to use. I then spent ages trying to resize the printables and even longer feeding fabric through the printer and then having to deal with it being stuck, I'm surprised it's still working!! Anyway, I sort of got there in the end and if I drank I think I would be hitting the bottle now!

mini book of cats!

I sorted out some photos of our cats the other day and thought it would be fun to make a mini book of them.
Our main cats over the years were Pixie, Zipper, Gizmo, Psycho aka Coco, Winnie and Ickle!!

We also had several litters of kittens over the years as I was a sucker for little kittens. All of them went to good homes except for two who stayed with us!! It surprised me a bit that Peter and Andrew could tell straight away which was which in the photos, I found it hard with the tabbies except for Pixie who was The King and ruled the neighbourhood!

I also managed this layout of my eldest three playing crazy golf on holiday near Weymouth, we do go to other places I promise!! We stayed at Moonfleet Manor, the first time we went to a hotel with the children, it was a real treat.

bears

managed to do this layout for the SLYMI challenge, to do a self portrait!. I used my latest sarah's cards kit and knitted an embellishment with some left over wool from when I made Jenny a Popcorn bear.

We've been quite busy today, walking to the library and then down by the sea, were out walking for 2hrs so that must help the diet. We then did some gardening this afternoon so feel quite pleased with myself.

The Faraway Tree

Managed to do a DLO this morning for the SLYMI challenge to scrap the outdoors. These photos taken yesterday were perfect for the challenge.

We're all going out this afternoon, even Andrew, as there is a fair on and also the children want to play crazy golf.
Hope everyone else is having a nice day!

Face painting

Did this layout for the week 17 SLYMI challenge to use lace and layers. The photo was taken at Dover Castle when we took the children there last year, or the year before, can't remember now! The papers are from the latest sarah's cards kit and I scraplifted a layout by Angie on the scra paper scissors blog.

Quick update

Mum has gone home after a nice break and I am enjoying a little bit of me time!
Today I managed the week 16 SLYMI challenge, to scrap in the morning. I used my latest sarah's cards kit and a lovely photo of Becca with the chooks.
Have been enjoying looking after the animals for Jenny although today one of the chickens was being nasty to another, chasing it around trying to peck it, there was not much I could do apart from putting food in for them, if I could I would have separated the bully. Jenny and co will be back tomorrow so hopefully they will sort things out.
I'm now going to make some cards with my new kit.

A quick layout done this morning for the SLYMI week 13 challenge to use stamps. I used my latest Sarah's Cards kit.
Ian and I have been busy in the garden this morning digging and weeding ready to plant beans, peas etc. It's such a lovely day here today it's a shame to be inside.

Nice weekend

Have had a nice weekend with Peter here and Jenny and co coming round. I've also had a couple of long phonecalls from David and a Mother's Day card from him that made me laugh. He sent me some money to buy stash, Jenny got me a sizzixs alphabet and Andrew and Peter bought me seasons one and two of Moonlighting an old favourite of mine.

Today we got up early as Peter has an early train to catch and then went for a walk by the sea before coming back and doing the housework and some gardening. It looks like it is going to pour now so I can come on the computer without feeling guilty!
I did this layout for the week 12 SLYMI challenge to use a sketch. I used very bright pinkpaislee papers from last months sarah's cards kit.

Now I'm going to play a game on my computer!

My layout for the SLYMI week 11 challenge, to use fabric. I downloaded the template from the crafty template website, they are setting this weeks challenge and had a lovely layout on there which I scraplifted, by Leo.
Have also been busy making a birthday card and Mother's Day card while Ian cooked the dinner, curry of course!
It's lovely here today and so I've also been out in the garden seeing what is starting to bud and checking on my plants in the greenhouse. A blackbird is making a nest just outside the kitchen door and I keep stopping to watch her collect all the twigs etc. I'm hoping our robins might do the same.
Jamie is coming around today to watch spurs again on the tv, I made some cakes yesterday ready for the royal visit!

Too competitive!!

Not a very good photo but this is my latest layout for the SLYMI challenge to scrap a funny face, well I've managed to scrap three!!
Played bowls this morning and think I got a bit too competive, Ian said I was giving him cross looks because he wasn't playing well ! It just doesn't feel right being better than him at something, she says with a modest smile!!

Splash!

Just completed this layout for week nine of the scrap like you mean it challenge, this time we had to use a punch. The papers are from my latest Sarah's Cards kit, very bright pink paislee sweet cakes collection. I had to send off for some photos Jenny had taken as they had just the right colours to go with the papers!!
I popped into Jenny's this morning and she had done a gorgeous layout of Becca's birthday and has nearly finished a mini book too, why do her's look so much better than mine?

Princess?

The challenge this week was to cut a photo, boy did I find it hard!! Having done the cutting I then had to decide how to place the photos on the layout. I loved these photos of Becca, so that helped, I think they show off the real Becca!
my latest sarah's cards kit arrived on Friday so I am feeling pleased with myself for using it so soon.
It's been a busy week with lots of visits from the children to keep me entertained. Played bowls on Thursday but had a very bad game only got one point, Ian on the otherhand was in fine form.
Yesterday, as the weather was nice, I decided to start on the garden ready for the spring. I weeded out there for over 2hrs so it must have done me good. I'm hoping to sow some seeds next week as I have lots of plans for vegetables etc.

Must get organised!!

I've gone over a week again without posting, I don't know why. I must try and post more regularly.

I did this layout today for the scrap like you mean it challenge, this week we had to use old photos. These ones of my handsome boys with their little nephew will do! I used an old sarah's cards kit and scraplifted a layout by Little Miss Gem.

Having not seen the children for a while we have had them round three times this week. That meant lots of craft, some football, of course, and the kitchen floor being used as an ice rink!

I also got to watch My parents are Aliens aren't I lucky!!

My handsome grandson!

I did this layout of Jamie for the week 5 challenge, you had to scrap in black and white, I did the photo. I used daily grind pp from a sarah's cards kit. I was inspired by a layout by Rachael Elliot which was in the latest Scrapbook magazine. Rachael lives in Portland which is a place dear to my heart.
Ian and I went shopping this morning, we went to Sainsburys and then on to the farm shop and then the butchers. I watched a horrible programme last week about Tescos and their policy on chickens, I will never buy my meat from them again.
After we packed all the food away we decided to set ourselves a challenge, we are going to shop a day later each week to save money. We have so much in I'm sure I can make the food last longer.

scrap your day

It's the 25th already and so time to take some more photos.
The weather is miserable outside so it's definitely an indoors, chilling, sort of day.
Time to do my daily sudoku, play on Lord of the rings, watch West Wing and try, unsucessfully, to take photos of the trees blowing in the wind.
I've managed to finish a layout for week 4 of scrap like you mean it and I've tidied up my stash a little bit. If I'm very good I might get my pages for 25th Dec done!

Trees

I received a nice award from Sue http://suzyssanctuary.blogspot.com/ and will have to think about who to pass it on to as I don't have many friends who blog. Thanks for the award though Sue :)
I managed to do this layout for the week 3 challenge, we had to use chipboard. The photos were from our Portland holiday, it was nice when we could get away on our own for a bit.
Ian and I have been busy ordering a tree and shrub to hopefully fill in the gaps where our neighbours have cut down their trees, and give us some privacy. I cannot understand why some people like to clear everything, the poor birds etc now have nowhere to go. We have bought a hawthorne which is meant to be very good for wildlife, in the meantime there will be no nude sunbathing for me!!!!
