Me on Monday
I’m cheating a bit as this was me last Monday enjoying a pleasant day at Slimbridge
So many birds to see but I just love the babies
including these little coots
and this adorable moorhen
the reason for our visit, a few days looking after our granddaughter while mummy was away
we had a lovely time holding the animals, this little chick was a favourite
and feeding the lambs
there was time for some adventure as well
she managed to climb up there and come down on her own, it was far too scary for me!
We had a lovely few days, I really should have lost weight all the running around we did.
This Monday sees me tired and a little sad it is all over.

Me on Monday
doing what most mum’s do, cooking a favourite meal for one of her sons.
The weekend was another family one involving a lot of food and not much exercise, unless I can include the hours spent preparing the meals!

I hope you all have a good week x

a favourite quote
As it comes to the end of the day and I get ready to curl up in bed with a good book, I have this quote to share
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”

Five books I’ve enjoyed this year
Each year I set myself the challenge on goodreads to read over 50 books, here are five I’ve particularly enjoyed so far this year.
When Harry dies he always returns as a child with all the knowledge of his previous lives. When another of his kind tries to change history Harry works out a plan over several lifetimes to try and stop him.
an interesting very detailed story of a violent age, a few too many
battles for me but I’m glad I persevered with it!
So many things I remembered in this little glimpse back to my childhood
When a child’s bones are found on a desolate beach , Detective Chief Inspector Harry Nelson calls Ruth Galloway for help. Nelson thinks he has found the remains of Lucy Downey, a little girl who went missing ten years ago.
The bones actually turn out to be two thousand years old, but Ruth is soon drawn into the Lucy Downey case and into the mind of the letter writer Then another child goes missing and the hunt is on to find her and bring her home safely.
Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her she is strapped into her wheelchair with a gun pointed at her. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh.
Another book I wouldn’t normally have picked up but it drew me in, I wanted Melanie to survive.

two months gone by
This year seems to be going by so fast and I feel I’ve not been recording those precious memories like I used to. I saw on Melissa’s blog that she has decided to join in with Cate's idea to blog everyday in May and although I know I won’t manage to blog everyday I thought I would make a determined effort to blog more. So this is me at the moment enjoying family time.
With Ian unable to do too much since he broke his wrist in January we are slowly getting back to normal and going out again. I just need to remember to charge my camera as it died on me when we had a couple of days in London, I still feel cross with myself about it!
