Have been out in the garden taking cuttings of geraniums and fuschias. Hopefully I will have a lot of new plants without having to spend anything. Ian mowed the lawn and we tidied up the hanging baskets. We've also picked some more courgettes and now have lots of tomatoes, still green but on their way.

another class
The next class from Hummie was about turning photos to black and white and tinting. I used an old photo of Ian's parents for this and had fun playing around with all the different techniques.

Have finally been with Jenny and the children to see Eclipse, a good film which has left me wanting to see the next one.

Pop-up card
I finally finished this card over the weekend. It was from the free Jessica Sprague class and all the elements are part of the class. It was very easy to do and I can see me making a lot more.
The sun's finally broken through here, just in time for me to put the washing out and do some gardening.

vintage photo
I had great fun yesterday with Shimelle's prompt. This was my original photo taken in Cambridge last year.
and this is what it turned out like after following her class. Using various adjustment layers and this textured paper I produced this photo. I think I need to play around with this technique a bit on more of my photos but that wont be a problem as it is so easy to do. I really should go back over the prompts and do more of this class.

I am reading
I'm reading this book at the moment, another one recommended by the TV Book Club. I'm finding it quite a gripping read and will be looking for more by this author.

Little House on the Prairie
I think I also longed for those simple times when children were pleased with a tin cup and an orange in their Christmas stockings instead of all the expensive toys they seem to all want now.
Anyway, to cut a long story short I have been out in my garden picking these and for a brief second I felt like Caroline Ingalls, the only question is, do I make muffins or pancakes to eat them with or do I just have them with my home made yoghurt.
I'm off to bake some bread now!!

Class 2
The second class from Jessica Sprague involved using a template, adding an embellishment, journalling, a shape (the heart) and a brush. Although I know all of this it was a great way of revising.
We have been to Becca's little leaving concert today at the local church. They sang some songs, most of which I knew from Sunday School and some of the children talked about their friends, why they liked school and what they wanted to be when they grew up, it was lovely.

text
this class from Hummie was about blending text into the background of a layout. I did this quick page of Jamie painting a picture of me.
How he has grown, we went to see him in his leavers concert yesterday at the Margate Theatre. There was a time when he was too shy to get up on stage but not anymore. He sang and danced in a group with a big grin on his face, the production was The Rocky Monster Show. We were very proud of him.

merging photos
Hummies class today was about merging photos. We had two photos of two halves of a rainbow and had to merge them into one. I've had a go and although it's not perfect it is a start.
We've had Jamie staying the night so that we could take him to the Winter Gardens Theatre to practise his leaving play,we now have to bring him back for tea and take him again for the evening performance which we are going to. Tomorrow it's Jenny's turn!

weeks menu
I'm trying to get a bit more organised this week and so have started with my menu. I'm also hoping to clean out cupboards, get rid of out of date food and make a list of things I need, that's my intention anyway!!

assignment 1
The next part of Jessica Sprague's class was to use this quick page, turn a photo to black and white and add journalling to the strips.
I've chosen a photo of Ian when we were on Lock Ness and the journalling is heartfelt at the moment.

Fixing photos
The next class from Hummies was all about fixing over or under-exposed photos, something which is going to be very helpful once I finally get started on scanning in all my old photos. You can see the difference it makes by looking at this layout I did for the class.

cleaning
There comes a time when even I decide my oven needs a clean and today was the day. My morning seems to have been taken up with dabbing on cleaner, scrubbing it off, reapplying cleaner, scrubbing it off etc etc etc !
So now I'm going to relax and read my latest book, I might even have some chocolate, I think I deserve it.

back to basics
It's always a good idea to go over techniques learnt especially where digi scrapping is involved, there is so much to learn. I've therefore signed up for Jessica Spragues Up and Running class again, as I've done it before it was really cheap and you get a new kit with it.
This is the first class, using a template and adding a title and text.

quick page
I did this layout yesterday using another template from Hummie and the lindsayjane cooked perfect kit.
Have Jenny coming round to be taught how to crochet, should be interesting, then later we are off to watch Jamie in a rounders tournament so that's my day taken care of!

Hummies Class
For Hummies second class we had to divide/slice a photo, a technique I found great fun to do and will definitely be doing again.
The kit is by jmccarthy and I took some elements off a template by Jessica Sprague.

I am reading
It's far too hot to do much so I have been sitting out in the garden reading this book. I seem to be getting through a lot of books at the moment and not much else :)

adding a title to photo
Today's prompt from Shimelle came with some word art to add to a photo. You could then use photoshop to change the colours to tone in. I love this photo I took during our recent holiday and picked out the colours of the boats for my title.

In my garden
I've been having a little look at Shimelle's class this afternoon, just doing something easy as it is so hot. One of the early prompts was to go out in the garden and take some photos of the same flowers from different angles and times of day. I did this and then created these collages using picasa.
This is the hebe shrub called Nicola's Blush.
and this is the fuschia outside my back door.

quick layout
It's been another busy day helping take the grandchildren to new schools for a visit, how Jenny was meant to manage on her own I will never know. We now have them coming back for tea as there is a meeting at Jamie's new school so just have time to post this layout I did using a free Jessica Sprague template and a photo of Ian and I.

I've been watching the TV Book Club and this is one of the books they've reviewed, looks interesting.

new class at Hummies
I've just started class 2 at Hummies and the first lesson was about clipping masks. This is the layout I did for it creating an adjustment clipping mask and extracting the photo of Jamie playing in the snow. So much to do and so much to learn, I hope I've not taken on too much!

Shimelle's new class - love your pictures, love your pages
Shimelle's class has started today and she set two challenges.
The first was to post a photo that made you smile. This one of the children fits the bill as it reminds me of when I was a child playing schools just like them.
The second challenge was to take a photo now so I popped outside and took this one, it shows how I like to spend my time when I'm not scrapping of course!

quick post
For some reason I feel very tired today so have just managed a quick layout using photos from yesterday, it's so easy with these lovely templates from Hummie.

Grandchildren
A certain film was showing this weekend so we ended up looking after the grandchildren! A trip to the park was a must and Alex and Becca played in there
while Jamie had a game of footie with Uncle Andrew and Grandad.
I now need to get myself sorted for Shimelle's latest class starting Monday.

Visitors
The housework is done, the menu sorted, just waiting for sister Sue to arrive. Time now for sitting in the garden and reading my latest book. I am enjoying it but part of the appeal for me was the fact that Bella was human and Edward a vampire, not so sure I like the new Bella.

Final Sports Day
Jamie waiting for the start of his race.
and he's away.
rugby ball race
final water race, filling the cup then racing with it on your head, a good race to end with on such a hot day.
The final sports day at his school, next year he will be at senior school, it doesn't seem possible.
