Scrap your day!

Got up this morning to find the storm had destroyed our beautiful tree. I have always loved this tree, it has such lovely starlike flowers all through the summer and now, the best part of it has gone. ian and I spent the morning breaking it up for him to take it to the dump, I'm so sad.

I did manage to do these pages for Shimelle's "scrap your day " class, I put a rare photo of me on them to encourage me to diet, I can almost hear Sue's sigh of relief when she sees it!!

Sunny Saturday!

Ian went of early with Peter to watch the golf at Wentworth, so I am having a relaxing day, apart from looking after the children this morning while Jenny and Ed collected their new car!
Have finished my CJ entry for this month, the theme was colours and I chose brown as two other people had done green, my favourite colour. After worrying about it all month, I enjoyed doing it in the end and it is all ready to be posted on Tuesday, such a relief!
I've added a few more books to my slide show as I have read quite a lot recently, the weather has been warm enough for me to sit outside so I like to take a good book and a coffee with me, no chocolate, of course!
I made a really easy pasta last night which Ian and Andrew enjoyed, will definitely do it again,

Creamy bacon and mushroom pasta

8oz pasta
1 onion chopped
4 slices bacon chopped
as many mushrooms as you like, chopped
200ml single cream
parmesan - I didn't have, so used cheddar - to grate on top

Cook pasta. Fry onions and bacon in a little butter and when onion softened add mushrooms for a few mins.
Pour in cream and bring to the boil and let thicken slightly. Add pasta and give good stir.

Put on plate and grate cheese over. Then enjoy! I did some coleslaw and garlic bread to accompany it

Scrap your Day

have managed to do my team sketch and finish my pages for shimelle's scrap your day class, so feeling quite pleased with myself!!

The sketch is using photos from a trip out to the zoo David, Zen, Peter, Jamie and Alex had. It was a very cold day but they were all pleased to see a month old baby elephant.

Shimelles class is to take photos on the 25th of the month and then scrap them. This will make a good journal of the year.

I now need to start on my CJ as that has to be posted next week!

Busy day!

I've had a busy afternoon crafting. I finished this mini book from a class by shimelle, There's no place like home. I took a few photos of various places we like to visit or walk passed, we are so lucky to have such nice scenery here.

The layout was inspired by the weekly challenge on UKS by the Doodle bugs. We had to use a sketch, some ribbon, doodling and stamping.
This morning, Ian and I had a game of bowls which he just won! We are off out this evening for a fish and chips supper ( I sound like mum!) and a game of bowls with about 20 other people!

Sunny Saturday

It is another beautiful day here, life seems so much better when the sun shines! Ian and I are going for a walk by the sea soon and Andrew has already ben out for a jog.
I have been following http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=826653 this thread with interest over the last few days, how I wish I could get our spending down. There are quite a few tips on there and some recipes I want to try, I think the challenge is way too difficult for us though! Feeling inspired, I made some rolls on Thursday but not very sucessfully, Ian was surprised I could carry them to the table!
Another blog I read is here http://down---to---earth.blogspot.com/, I also click on some of her favourite blogs, it is nice to see families trying to live the simple life.

Team sketch

Did this layout for our team sketch challenge, I used sweet pea papers and more of my favourite seaside photos! I really love those papers, they came from a sarah's card kit.
Had a tidy up after the weekend and managed to sit in the garden for a while, the weather has been glorious.
Have been watching the third series of Alias which I am enjoying and also American Gothic, an old favourite of mine. Ian and I now have Bones to watch too so we will be square-eyed for a while!

I was tagged by http://artypartyni.blogspot.com/ the other day and had to think of 7 interesting facts that no one knows about me, should prove difficult!

1. When I was 10yrs old I was in love with Frank Sinatra.
2. I secretly went out with a boy of 18yrs when I was only 12yrs.
3. My best friend and I formed a secret society and used to follow people convinced they were criminals.
4. I weigh more now then when I was 9months pregnant with all of my children!
5. I have never watched High School Musical although my grandson wants me too.
6. I am very good at football and go to football practice every Thursday!
7. I would rather buy stash than clothes, makeup etc.

Not very interesting am I but then some things I couldn't put on a blog!

The sandcastle!

We spent a lovely morning on the beach with Jenny, Ed and the children. it was a beautiful bank holiday for a change!

Ed and the children decided to make a sandcastle and see how long it took for the sea to get it.

Becca got very cross with the sea and decided to tell it off. Jamie got quite involved and stopped playing football for a while.
Needless to say, the sea won in the end, despite all efforts.

no computer!

My computer has been broken and so I have not been able to blog or do all the other things I love, how I have missed it! Hope to be back to normal tomorrow.
