Feb week 4 challenge

Did this layout for a challenge on UKS by the Rockin Ribbon Raiders. We had to do a water theme, use purple and ribbons, and either 29 or 2 and 9 of somthing plus a little sparkle, think I covered all of that plus using up some old stash!
Have not done much else today apart from making a fruitcake and doing the ironing.

New furniture!

Ian has just laughed at me taking this photo but I'm so pleased to have got rid of the old, dirty suite! The new settees are very comfortable and I can see I will be watching more TV now!
On a sadder note, the Design Collective is finishing next month, I can't blame them as it must have been hard work thinking of all those wonderful classes along with all their other commitments. I have found all the classes very helpful, I have learnt a lot of new techniques and spent a lot of money!!! I wish all the team well in whatever they do.
We are looking for a new member for our team, the secret stash strokers, on UKS, I have had one special person show an interest, so come on you know you want to join!!

Mighty Spurs!!

Here is my finished maze book for mum, I used K & Co papers and embellishments and lots of photos of the family.
There were great celebrations in our house this afternoon when spurs won the cup, a well deserved win! This evening I have been flicking from Brucie's birthday party and the ice dancing. Have to say a glimpse of Mark Ramprakash was the winner for me!

Lazy day!

I have spent the afternoon finishing my maze book, just waiting for it to dry and then I will take a photo and put it on blog. I've enjoyed doing it and will definitely do some more.
I haven't been out today, just lazed around playing on the computer. Made a lovely prawn chowder for lunch and have promised enchiladas for tea.
Have started Battlestar Galactica series 3 and am enjoying it so far, David and Peter say it loses it a bit in the middle but I will wait and see.
Alex lent me a cd of his so I have been listening to it while I craft, each song reminds me of a strictly come dancing dance, Hot, hot, hot is on at the moment!
Sudoku yesterday was 276!!!

Gardening

It has been another glorious day here, after the fog cleared that is! After shopping and some babysitting, I went out in the garden, determined to make a start on the weeding. Only managed about 1hr 30mins but at least I have cleared the area outside the kitchen door. I hate ivy, it seems to get everywhere and is very hard to pull up. I think next time Ian can do the digging and I will do some pruning!!

Bowls again!

Had a good day today although Ian beat me at bowls, again! It must be because he is playing a lot more than me! It was so nice, we went for a walk along the sea front afterwards, bliss.
In the afternoon I started the maze book, have made it, just need to decorate it and put in photos.
Have asked mum to stay for a few days over Mother's Day, hopefully the weather will be good and we will be able to walk by the sea.
Have also been looking at holidays and we hope to go away in May for a week or two to the Lake District, a place I have always wanted to go to. Now all I need to do is lose some more weight!

Pizza diet!!

Another lovely day here, actually saw a little child paddling in the sea and several families on the beach. Andrew and Ed played a round of golf and we took the children to Pizza Hut, so much for the diet!
This week I want to make a maze book for mum, the instructions can be found http://dollysdreamings.typepad.com/dollys_dreamings/. That is my aim anyway, unless something gets in the way!
Have also become addicted to scramble on Facebook, although I am not very good at it.

Spring is here!

Did this layout over the weekend and finally finished it this afternoon. It was from a class on the Design Collective by Suzanne Torr. Thought I would have a go at trying something different.
I also tried some journaling using a class by shimelle, feel I need to do more of that!
It has been lovely here today, so warm you would think it was spring! Ian and I walked all along the beach this morning and it was great to see children out playing on it.
Last night we watched Pirates of the Caribbean 1, Ian has never seen it. We both enjoyed it and look forward to seeing the other two soon.
Today we finished the last episode of Spooks series 2, very sad ending as usual, must get the next series now.

Low Fat Prawn Pilau

2 tbsp korma curry paste
1 small onion finely chopped
300gm basmati rice
700ml chicken stock
150gms cooked prawns
frozen peas
chopped mushrooms
chopped pepper
1, Fry curry paste with onions, mushrooms and peppers until softened. Add rice and coat in paste. Add stock and bring to boil.
2, Cover the pan and turn down heat. Simmer for about 15mins until all liquid absorbed and rice cooked. Turn off heat and add prawns and peas. Put lid back on and leave for 5mins. Fluff up rice and serve.
This is a very tasty recipe which everyone enjoyed.
Have not done much this week to put on my blog. Almost finished a Design Collective class and hopefully will be putting that on blog tomorrow.

Magic Wallet

Made this little magic wallet this afternoon from a class on the Design Collective by Fiona Beckman. It took me ages as I had to redo it 3 times! I think I must be stupid!
Ian and I had a nice walk this morning down to the sea and then he spent all afternoon watching a repeat of the superbowl while I was being creative!
Off to babysit for Jenny and Ed this evening so won't get much more done today.

Mini book and sudoku

I finally finished my mini book of the summer, I was so pleased to get this kit for half price in a sale at Rebecca's Scrapbooking Stash. It involved lots of painting and using liquid pearls so I had to be patient and wait for it dry, something I'm not very good at!
This morning Ian and I played bowls and he just beat me, I had a very bad patch and was getting quite ratty with myself but managed to improve towards the end leaving me wanting to play again!
sudoku today (sorry Sharon) 317 When I first started doing this I regularly got over 1000, so as in most things, practice helps. You can try as many times as you like, if I got a bad score I would try again but put 2 after my name etc, this was just for my benefit and to let my sisters know.
I still can't beat Jenny who always gets lower than 266 so her score doesn't count, a silly rule I think.

Looking back!

Well, it's February already, so I thought I would see what I had achieved in January.
1 - and most importantly, I have lost 6lbs!!!! It doesn't sound much in a month but it is going in the right direction.
2 - Ian and I have managed to get to bowls every week, and I have beaten him twice!
3 - I made a couple of new recipes. The prawn pilau I made last week was yummy and I would definitely do it again.
4 - Almost finished my cross stitch, on the dreaded outline bit at the moment.
5 - Completed several scrapbook projects, including Design Collective classes and 1 UKS wkly challenge.
6 - Finished my Christmas Journal!!
7 - Managed to do a bit of gardening
8 - Started Everquest again and spent far too much time on it!
9 - Nearly finished the two books I got for Christmas.
10 - Watched first series of Spooks ( on second series now), Alias 2 and 24 - not sure if that is a good thing!!

For February, I am doing a shimelle journaling class, something I need to improve for my scrapbooking http://shimelle.com/
